Right, so looking through the character category, I've noticed that my character Miles Mathias's icon is an image that I don't want it to be. Is there a way to change this?
It's the first image on the page, so no. There's no way to change it if you want those banners around the infobox name. There's nothing to really worry about, it hardly matters.
Alright, thanks. I had noticed that some pages with switch infoboxes didn't have that problem, but I have no reason to use one of those.
See, whatever is the first image in the coding(or source mode, rather) is the icon for the page if it appears in anything on the wiki that uses the pages icon. The easiest way to find out what's the first image is to switch into source and find it.
The prime example I can give is Aztarwyn, my own character that uses a switch infobox. Out of the four infoboxes, his casual appearance is the icon for his wiki page due to it being the first image on the page. Should it have been his armored appearance, his wolf appearance or his robes first, then the icon would be different for each of the respective images. But since casual is first and is the main infobox that loads when you load the page, it's his icon.
There might be a way to change the icon, idk. I'll let an admin, probably Zoe, post here if they see it and want to help explain it for you. I just gave my best shot at it, so don't quote me on anything unless someone who's better at the coding part of the wiki tells you :P.
Currently, in the characters section, the link to the character is showing an image used in the infobox's title banner. I'm wanting to know if it's possible to display a different image on that link page. I don't have any problem with how the page itself looks.
Oh, I see; you want to change how it comes up, is all. I'll have to look into that; I'm unsure why it defaults to that image in particular over your infobox image.
I still think it's the fact that it's the first image. However, I also think it might be the size of the image itself. The image in question for Miles' infobox is 44 KB big, while the banner's he's using is 325 KB. I'll Skype about it.
http://community.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog:Kirkburn/How_images_are_picked_to_represent_articles explains how the image is selected, I don't think there's a solution besides resizing images. I'll probably get around to doing that.
It says file size is a factor. Go ahead and make that banner a hell of a lot smaller than what it is, because it doesn't matter if it's thumbnailed or not. Either that or get a higher resolution photo for your infobox.
What do you think?
