Hey guys, us admins discussed just recently how we think it's best to approach the use of these wiki forums for players who want to advertise upcoming events or organize roleplays, and I'm here now to share that with you. c:
Getting directly to the point, what we don't want is for this forum to cannibalize the Official RS Forum; that is to say, we don't want them to compete with each other in their purposes. I already know for sure that there are community members who dislike the idea that the wiki divides the community, and I agree that's something that should definitely not be encouraged. Since the main function of the Official Forum seems to be for organizing roleplaying groups and major and/or recurring public roleplaying events, hosting those here is going to be discouraged.
Now that I've told you what you shouldn't do, I can tell you what you can. Feel free to post threads for organizing roleplays here that either
- are things that would be inconvenient to advertise on the official forum (for example, Loth recently added the in-character marketplace; it wouldn't be great if the official forum were littered with 20 different threads that said, "My character is this person, he is a [job], and other characters can seek him out to buy [product/service] from him), or
- if you're organizing a roleplaying event that already has a primary thread on the Official Forum, you can increase visibility by putting a promotion up on wiki boards with an event description and a link to the primary thread. (No organizing whole groups, please, and no every-upcoming-event-in-Asgarnia threads, just public events.)
If you guys have any questions or clarifications, feel free to ask about them and I or somebody else who knows things will get back to you.
